Puncture repair checks

Find out whether puncture repair or a new tyre is the right next step.

Nail in a car tyre tread: a puncture that needs checking before any repair

A puncture cannot be judged by looking at it from the kerb. Tell us what happened and whether the tyre has been driven while flat. A technician needs to inspect the damage before confirming a puncture repair.

When a puncture can usually be looked at for repair

Small damage in the central part of the tread, from a nail or screw, is the kind that can be considered for repair once the tyre is off the wheel and checked inside. Damage on the shoulder or the sidewall, a large cut, or a tyre that was driven flat usually means a new tyre.

What to tell us

  • Where the tyre is damaged, if you can see it safely
  • Whether it was driven flat, and how far
  • Whether the wheel itself looks damaged
  • Your full tyre size, in case a replacement is needed

If you need it sorted today

Call and tell us where the car is. For a flat on a busy road, read what to do first with a flat tyre before anything else.
